| Hello fans and friends. just had to boast about my results from last semester. Physics C+, Statistics B, Geography B+ and Biology A-. I'm stoked with those because I didn't get marks like those at school, and I know how I can do better this semester. And I have a new niece! No name yet. Ive got friends from Singapore staying. They are here to work for a while. It's very cool to be able to help them settle, show them around and help them get accomodation. So many people in Scotland did those things for me, and it's satisfying to be able to do that for others. It's not paying back the people who helped me, but I'd like to think it's more 'Paying it forward', like in the movie. Much love to you all. Vaughan | | |
| Hi, just a quick note to my friends from the USA. My home town of New Plymouth has been struck by a series of tornado's over the last two days. I know there is a tornado season in the states, but they are quite uncommon here so it's all very exciting, and concerning too. There were six of them and several thousand houses are without electricity, but no one was killed thankfully. It's the talk of NZ at the moment because of their rarity. Anyway, hope you're all doing ok. we should hang out some time. Vaughan. | | |
| oh, hi there! I'm not a person of great faith. i think i have a fairly simple faith. Most of the time things just tick along. But every now and then God gives me a little reminder of his goodness and a bit of a nudge to make sure I'm still 'awake'. The French couple sharing my flat have been looking for jobs for about 2 months now and getting nothing better than waiting jobs (nothing wrong with waiting jobs, but they're skilled in human resources). I sensed they quite stressed about it last week and the compassion in me was stirred. So I did what any good Christian boy would do and prayed for them. And in an act of faith I asked that they would hear by the weekend. They were offered a job interview at the weekend, had it on Monday and were given the job tonight. Thanks God, you're a champion! Hope you guys are all doing well. I should have more diving pics in a couple of weeks. Claire, big congrats on the job, and the great story to go with it. Vaughan | | |
| G'day mates! It's been a while. Life is . . . ui, diving, driving and a little it more uni. I'm surprising myself with my results. Maybe my expectations were low. I had expected to scrape through assessments, and maybe fail a couple, because I haven't studied for a while. But I'm getting good passes. And loving the whole learning thing. It seems that a lot of Christians who go to uni lose their faith or end up with a watered down version. It's played on my mind a bit. Because I'm doing a science degree, I get the evolution thing all the time. But I'm finding that I'm more convinced about creation. More on a philosophical level than physical evidence. At my last physics lecture we learned that water is unique among liquids in how it freezes. Without going into detail, if water behaved like other liquids, lakes in cold climates would freeze solid from the bottom up. However, once ice forms on the surface, the temp of the lake never drops below 4degrees celcius. Which means life continues under the ice. Because this property is uniqe, I see it as an intentional design. I've got another dive trip coming up which I'm very excited about. 2 nights on a live aboard boat at the Mercury Islands. That means 2 solid days diving. Thanks for reading. Hope you're doing ok. Vaughan Below is are pics from the Poor Knights where I did my last dive trip. | | |
